Coach Singleton is entering his first year leading the Midwest Prep Academy Basketball Program. He comes from Hyde Park Academy, where he was a varsity assistant in the Chicago Public League’s Red Central Division. Bobie also presently coaches the nationally respected MeanStreets 16 and under Nike EYBL AAU team.

After graduating from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in 2001, Bobie worked as a basketball recruiter in the Chicagoland area at Thomas Sports Management until 2003. He spent the next several years working at CSMG Sports recruiting and managing a dozen of the top players in the NBA. Under his mentor Henry Thomas, one of the National Basketball Association’s top agents, he became NBAPA certified. He became well-versed in the daily tasks of the basketball business, including the many details regarding contracts and marketing strategies.

Bobie was a scholarship letterman with the University of Illinois football team, where he played from 1996-2001. Singleton had a series of knees injuries which he suffered during his time as a member of the Fighting Illini, the last coming late in his senior year. His playing days on the football field cut short, Bobie headed straight back to his love for the hardwood, and he hasn’t looked back.

Coach Singleton’s prep years were spent on the Southside of Chicago at St. Rita High School, where he was a three sport letterman in track and field, basketball and football. While he excelled in all three, in football he earned Chicago Catholic League All-Conference and All-State by IHSFCA honors and was rated in Tom Lemming’s Top 100 prospects at Wide Receiver.
